sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

I found these beauties outside the kid’s dentist office this afternoon. The weather was scorching hot but this bee was busily buzzing around these flowers.
Maybe the bee was resting inside the flower. Looks pretty relaxed in there.

Thanks, Cee, for hosting this challenge! Dear readers, thank you for stopping by and enjoying nature with me. Hope the weather is not too scorching hot where you are and you are staying well. ~Esther

I hadn’t heard of white trumpet flowers before! I’ve only orange ones.

I thought trumpet flowers were only in orange too, but I’ve seen many different colors this past year: purple, red, pink, and now white! I had to check and see if it was a different flower.
Hope you have a great weekend!

        You, too, Esther!

We have salmon pink-colored ones here and they are hummingbird magnets. We have a cool day today and tomorrow and 90s next week. I’m just grateful for the cool weather for a break in the volatile weather – yesterday, another stormy day.

Salmon pink-colored ones sound pretty too! I’ve been noticing different colored ones this year. This spring in San Diego I found red and pink ones.
Enjoy your cool day tomorrow. How crazy that you had another stormy day and then blazing heat next week. It’s all over the place.
It is blazing hot in CA! So hot and dry. All of us are feeling sluggish in this heat.

I was not on here last night except to answer comments as we had another storm believe it or not. It was not severe, but at 3:30 p.m. my weather radio went off “warning for severe weather” and in my area. They had called for a thunderstorm … I remember them. A little rain, a little thunder … not this severe stuff every time … this is the fifth severe storm we have had in 10 days. On the national news earlier today there was a short story on how a mom in San Jose put her kids outside to have water from the hose as it was too hot inside the house … kid said “mom made us go outside to cool off!” I am looking forward to Fall, less volatile weather. I went on long walks in big parks this weekend and today was home by 11:00 a.m. and just weary from the heat – yesterday was nice most of the morning with lower dew points.

It’s volatile weather where you are! I can see why you’d tune into the weather channel often.
Fall’s weather sounds better but I’m going to miss the longer days! It’s bizarre when the sun goes down by 4:30.
I can see why the San Jose mom told her kids to cool down with the hose outside. It was hot!!!

I left here twice last night due to thunderstorms. This weather is making me a Nervous Nellie Esther. We had so many storms and that one last week was worrisome, but now we have another severe storm this Wednesday night – don’t like that it is in the evening at all. And a higher threat level for my area of Michigan – level 3 of 5 (last week’s was 2 of 5) and tornadic activity again. I am hoping for Fall soon, but that doesn’t mean the hot weather will stop either. Yes, 4:30 in Winter and the sun is gone and in the morning, it gets up at 8:30-ish and makes for just a short walk then by the time I get out the door. Yes, the hose worked perfectly for those kids!

How often you get thunderstorms!! I would be a Nervous Nellie myself.
Take care and hope nothing it passes quickly. We are burning up in CA, but it’s nothing like Phoenix. I just read that pavements can get dangerously hot and lead to severe burns if people fall on them. Now, that’s HOT! Yep, even with the shorter days, cooler weather sounds like a nice relief.

Thank you for thinking of me Esther. I’ve been a Nervous Nellie all day. Power flickered but that’s it but we did get 66 mph winds. They had predicted 70-90-100 mph winds depending on whether it came as high winds, tornado or derecho … I felt sick thinking about it. I’ve heard people are going to the E.R./Urgent Care in Phoenix for “surface burns”. I heard them say a slide at a park had to be cautioned-taped off so kids did not go on it – it was 120F on the metal part of the slide!

      6. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Oh yikes, if the power flickered on and off, I’d be a nervous wreck. I’d be worried about our fridge and rice cooker. I used to worry a lot more about power when Ellis needed compounded medicine in the fridge. Wow, 66 mph is wild. Linda, hugs!! I get nervous thinking about volatile weather like that.
Metal slides can be hot!! Must be careful on those things.

      7. Linda Schaub Avatar

Yes, I don’t like when the power flickers off and on and you know it’s going to go off. That would be worrisome with Ellis’ compounded medicine in the fridge. Marge was on oxygen 24/7/365 the last few years of her life for her COPD. She could not use the portable oxygen machine anymore – it was not powerful enough for her and she’d be gasping for air. She was petrified that she’d lose power. I told her the fire department had generators – not to worry and then thought I’d check and called there and they did not. She would have had to go to the hospital which is 5 miles away from here – she was there 6-8 times a year for breathing issues.

      8. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Ack, power loss with oxygen tanks is frightful and so if breathing difficulties!! I can’t imagine what it would be like to gasp for air and to live in fear that oxygen supply may fail with power outages. That’s STRESS!
Ellis’ medications always kept us concerned about it staying refrigerated and refilled on time. For nine years, she used compounded medications and we had to fill it in syringes twice a day. When she switched to tablet medication in 2022, Chris and I were proud to say that we forgot to give her her medication less than 10 times in all those years. Looking back, I don’t know how we did it and kept it up all those years.

I just read in the Facebook Resident forum that DTE (our energy provider) will provide a portable generator to people who are on 100% oxygen or have medications which must be refrigerated … I found that interesting as I always thought fire stations would have hookups of some type that people could use … I think the police department would offer that service too.

    Lovely!!

    Here yellow are common

Thank you, Devang! I’m always surprised to find different colors of this flower. Yellow is pretty too. I only saw it once while driving, and it was a huge trialing bush.
Hope you’re having a good weekend so far! 🙂

        Yes
White is not that common here
We have orange as well at our home.
        So far so good.

        Take care. Smile 😁
