sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Standing tall and proud (both the flower and the admirer/smiler).

I thought the sunflower was fake at first! It was one random one in the field.
Kids were happy to stand by the sunflower, but they wanted to leave right afterwards. We were at the farm to pick blackberries that morning and we were tired from the heat and battling blackberry thorns!

One day I want to go to the sunflower festival … too many people right now. I wish I had not gotten lost trying to get to the 2019 festival – oh well. I found some sunflowers to take pics of this year. I also would like to go to the lilac festival, but don’t for the same reason – just being careful. I didn’t know blackberries had thorns. We have mulberries at the Park, several mulberry bushes. The squirrels are feasting on them. We used to have some women who picked them every year, but they have not been around lately – they are plentiful.

My goodness…beware of blackberry bushes. The thorns are similar to rose bushes! One of the long branches went through my fabric of my jeans and scratched my knee. Yikes!! Nature has its defense mechanisms and they are painful for humans. How do animals deal with those thorns?
I hear you about the festivals. There are so many good ones every season and I’m sure they are fun to attend. I know because I feel sad for missing out on those fun events too. But I understand your hesitation! It’s better to be safe than sorry.

I had no idea about those blackberries. Better to be safe than sorry with the masks – a Summer strain of Covid is around now – ugh.
