sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

Sigh. It’ll need another trip to the Geek Squad, although it was at the shop all day yesterday. When we went to pick it up in the evening, nothing was fixed as they had to order a new part that they needed last minute. The phone went awry when a bright neon line appeared on the screen. I battery drained it and recharged it fully. That didn’t do anything for the problem. So I did the next best thing: restart the phone, power down and power up again. As you can see, I used very sophisticated problem-solving approaches!! 🙂

This morning, the phone had a frazzled moment with lines flicking on and off and then BLACK! Nothing. It still pings notifications and rings incoming phone calls. But that’s it.

Oh well, I’m out of a phone for the next couple of days. Since it’s under warranty, I may even get a new phone. My worry: what about my pictures??!! Even though it’s an inconvenience, this might be a positive experience to have a tech break from mindless scrolling and start reading my Bible again.

hahaha, ok! I’m glad to hear you are doing well. Hope the autumn season is a good one for you. What’s the weather like where you are?

Thanks here is still some of hot & cool weather. I like cold & rainy.

      8. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Rainy is lovely! In California, we were in a drought for years, meaning no rain. It was pretty dry and horribly hot. We’re always saving water.
We got more rain last year and more to come this year.

The same thing happened to me but it’s because I dropped it and cracked my screen. Yours sounds like the “black screen of death.” Try holding the lock and lower volume button together for a few seconds till your phone restarts. That may fit it.

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

I had the “black screen of death” and now it lags and doesn’t open up apps. I had a screen crack too a few years ago. It seems we all have similar cell phone fiasco stories!

      1. Pooja G Avatar

Oh no, sorry to hear that. It seems so!

      2. singlikewildflowers Avatar

What a pain! Maybe this means a new phone?! And it’s under warranty now.

      3. Pooja G Avatar

I guess so, did you ask them if they could do anything about it or if it would be best to get a new one?

      4. singlikewildflowers Avatar

They took it apart and then the part wasn’t there, so they assembled it back. It has a mind of its own…so they’ll decide, I guess. What an inconvenience, but I’m grateful I’m borrowing my daughter’s phone in the meantime.

      5. Pooja G Avatar

Yup, it’s so annoying not having a phone but glad your daughter has one you can use till you get a new one.

      6. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Thankfully, she’s cool with me using her phone!

      7. Pooja G Avatar

        That’s really great!

Oh no – hope your pics are all recoverable and you get a new phone in the process!

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

I hope so too, Linda! It’s been a pain in the butt so far. Still waiting to get it fixed. In the meantime, I’m borrowing Ellis’ phone, so it’s not too much of an inconvenience.

      1. Linda Schaub Avatar

Yes, you get so used to having it on you all the time – hope you can recover all your photos and contact info.

  6. heavenstobetty Avatar

Ahh yes. That’s my one solution to any tech issue. Shut down and restart. If that doesn’t work, I’ve got nothin’ else!

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

I forgot to mention a shake too…nothing! Something happened to it and now it won’t open apps. hahaha. When will the Geek Squad get in the new parts?! Since it’s under warranty, maybe I’ll get a new phone.

    Sigh. Goodness. Tech trouble. Eeeks.
Hope it’s all fixed now, Esther.
That’s the challenge when we are so reliant on our devices: when the tech goes wonky. Hope your photos are all ok.

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Still wonky and still waiting for the call that I can bring it in for repair! Agree with that we get so reliant on our devices.
I still have access to photos when the phone decides to turn on, but then the mic turns on and flashlight turns on and apps open and close. It’s like it’s haunted!

      1. Ju-Lyn Avatar

Eeeks! How frightful! Now that Halloween is over, not so entertaining anymore!
