Thank you everyone for your kind messages, prayers, and well wishes! This hospital admission has been one of the worst ones. Ellis’ condition constantly flip flopped throughout the day and just when I thought she was feeling better, she’d give me that look to get the barf bag and to tap her back. Just like her condition, my emotions flip flopped between hope and despair. The last post I wrote was written very early in the morning after the height of one of the worst nights this week. She had an adverse reaction to one of the medications and her nausea came back with a vengeance and she couldn’t sit still. At the time we didn’t know it was an adverse reaction until way later. I was informed later that some kids do get that reaction and Ellis was one of them.
Ellis got a clean IV line but the next night it just stopped working. Ellis complained of a burning sensation and her arm looked swollen. The other ones either caused pain from the IV drip or leaked. So she’s on her fifth IV line and I hope it’s the last one, because she’s running out of veins. Five IV pokes and 4 blood drawing pokes.

But all this pain is turning into praise! Sunday was a much better day. She complained of slight nausea in the morning but that subsided after some medication. New treatment approach is being used like changing IV fluids and new medications, which have all helped immensely. During the week, she didn’t want to talk and just cried when asked questions by nurses and doctors. Today was the turnaround day…the day that I’ve been praying for all week. While Chris and Elliot visited tonight, she even joked around and played games on her phone. That’s progress!

When doctors come for their morning rounds, when we’ll get discharged will probably get discussed. I’m finally chilling out and not holding my breath with worry.
During this week, my faith wavered but God is so good and faithful! By his supernatural power, we were able to endure this week well without falling apart (although there were tears and moments of numbness, but not for too long). Chris and Elliot went home after visiting us tonight with smiles on their faces. Yesterday, Chris looked worried when he left and I saw Elliot staring at his sister who was hunched over the pillow breathing deeply from the nausea bout. Out of the blue he tells her, “I’m sorry.” She just nodded her head back at him.
It’s nice to think about going home soon! In the meantime, Chris is taking Elliot to his office tomorrow morning and going to hang out with his dad at work. We’ll be working on eating again and getting stronger to go home. Ellis reassured me this evening: “I feel so much better.”
Thank you everyone! You all are so wonderful to me and I’m blessed you are here. Have a great start to a new week. 🙂

Wonderful news!! Thanks for letting us know that Ellis is getting better.
My pleasure! It keeps me sane to share here.
Have a wonderful weekend and hope all is well with you. 🙂
All is well with me. I spent the entire afternoon yesterday in a brick-and-mortar library. I hadn’t done that in years!
Oh, that sounds nice!! The muted silence, smell of books, and lighted study tables are so good for the soul. What were you studying?
I was doing some research for my current novel-in-progress. I was looking up words in the Dictionary of American Regional English. It hadn’t been used in so long, dust bunnies were flying off the various volumes!
That is so cool to do research for your new novel and to discover new finds in those old books!! For a nerd like me, that’s heaven. 🙂
For me, too! 🙂

Such good news.
Thank you!!
🤗🙏♥️🙌🏼💖
I am so relived she is feeling better. Hope the new meds help her.
I’m a hard stick to when it comes to blood and IVs. And I agree, the hands are the worse. 😀 😀
Thank you, Cee! We had to go back and forth on the meds and try new ones; that was a scary process.
Those IV lines are tricky. I feel your pain that it’s difficult for you for blood draws and IVs. Not a pleasant experience when you feel the needle jabbing you.
Yes, hands are the worse; a fragile spot!
Thank heavens for some better news at last, Esther. We are all just hoping and hoping.
Thank you, Jo!! That’s what I was feeling too and hoping each day would be the turnaround day.
Amen! May she continue to improve and feel better. Tell her we are praying for her.
Thank you, Cindy! I told her how so many people were praying for her and rallying for her, and she felt boosted by those encouragements. I’m sure she’ll get on the blog and read the comments herself soon.
I am so so so so glad she is doing better. praise the Lord! Hope you guys can recover and get deep rest from the last week, at home altogether. <3 sending love and continued prayers.
Thank you, Ju-Lyn!! Praise the Lord. In rough times, the Lord seems so much closer.
So thankful for good news. So sorry I missed all this while out of cell/internet service range. You’re a family of warriors in Christ. I admire your faith. ♥️
No worries, friend! I hope you are well. Were you traveling or camping that you didn’t have cell/ internet service?
Faith was the only thing that kept us going. It was scary when Ellis didn’t eat anything by mouth or drink from Monday to Monday and then have all those medications in her body. It was inconceivable to me that her body could handle all those medications and just IV. But doctors assured that the IV had sugar and enough electrolytes to keep her going.
Thank you for your kind encouragement and comment! I give credit to God!
