Day 3 in the hospital: no retching but still having nausea

Thank you, everyone, for your well wishes, encouragement, and prayers!! They’re wonderful to read when spirits are low. Although I’d like to write back, i don’t have much margin to do that. I’m mainly bedside all day as her caretaker.

Ellis is not actively retching and having throw ups like yesterday, which is a relief. However, she is weak and has been sleepy all day from the medications. She was getting supplemental oxygen last night and this morning because fluid had built up around her lungs, as shown by x-ray images. But that’s improved with taking diuretics and lowering her intake of iv fluids .

She’s getting another ekg tomorrow morning and blood work done to check for levels in potassium, magnesium, and phosphorous. Doctor said those three markers are impractical for her heart health.

I hope tomorrow is discharge day and she enters recovery stage tonight. I’m hoping for her to perk up soon, which happens unexpectedly.

Thought a cute plushie from the gift shop would lift her spirit, but she barely cracked a smile. Strangely, this is her comfort position when she’s sick.
