My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

How strange. There must be a reason, right?

The tattoo is to identify the rabbit at rabbit shows! Usually, rabbits get their ID# tattooed, but we opted for his name.

Teddy is at his first show right now and he got 4th place out of 9 rabbits in his breed. 2 more rounds of judging to go…

Images did not display. But Good for Dreamsycle Teddy in the Rabbit Show! Who is doing the showing? Ellis or Elliot? Hope to see pictures!

Thank you! Teddy did great at his first show. The first round he was so nervous that he did a lot of pooping and peeing and kept squirming around. One the second round, he was much more relaxed. I didn’t take much pictures because I didn’t want to bother the judges.

The images displayed now! Tattoo looks like it would hurt. I don’t have tattoos. Looks like Dreamsycle Teddy is recovering with Ellis. ❤️🐇

    What a fascinating job.

“So, what do you do for a living?”
    “I tattoo rabbit ears.”

It is, that is funny! I think the lady was a rabbit breeder and she does that on the side at the shows.

    Was it painful?

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

I think he was more nervous than anything. I’m not sure but the lady may have put a numbing cream on it before tattooing.
The whole process took less than 3 minutes.

        Not bad, then!

Teddy is relieved that no more needles will be involved in upcoming shows!

        I’ll bet!

He’s been enjoying his play pen time outdoors. Today, a neighbor’s dog stopped by to say “hello” and Teddy just peeped his head out of the pen to see who this big beast was.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a rabbit vocalize before!

Was he scared to have this done Esther? Strange they did not just do it with the number when he was born?

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

At first, he had no idea what was happening and squirmed a lot. That’s why one of the letter “D” is kind of messed up.
He could have gotten his number tattooed, but they were fine with his name. As long as we register it that way, it doesn’t matter for the shows. His next show is in December. Hopefully, Ellis will be ready by then with rabbit knowledge and handling. There’s much to learn till then.

I see – yes, I guess it might hurt with the needle, so thankfully it was a one-time ordeal for Teddy. Six months to be show-ready and your intense schedule … well Ellis can do it and will.

Thank you! I just ordered the ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association) book. https://arba.net/
I was hoping to wait for the 2025 version, but there hasn’t been any updates. So I just got the 2020-2025 version so they can study it this summer. In the showmanship, the judge asks questions about rabbit breeds and health questions. Better to study it in the summer than in the fall.

Hi Esther, I clicked on the link and went to find the breed. I saw 52 amazing pictures of different breeds, including the Holland Lop. Thanks for sharing the link!

      4. singlikewildflowers Avatar

You’re welcome! Isn’t it amazing how many breeds there are? These people are serious about breeding and raising rabbits. So when the breeders breed, they only breed the ones with the best traits and temperaments.

Yes, so that info is down pat before school starts and more info is crammed into the brain. That was a good idea Esther!

It’s coming this Saturday, so they’ll start reading, There’s more motivation to learn since we have a rabbit at home…it’s not just thinking hypothetically.

I’m a bit behind here, so the studying has already begun – good job kids. Yes, that’s very true – more hands on.

So wonderful teddy’s tattoo. God job Ellis 😀. It was painfull . There must be a reason, right?, Esther 🤔

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Thank you! Teddy was not happy and very squirmy. Somehow, he was able to handle it well and recovered quickly.

I read the other comments and glad he recovered from the bit of trauma this might have caused 🙂
