My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
Yes, they do – here in Michigan, when the rest of the landscape is gray and boring in the Spring, the Forsythia bushes and dandelions all arrive about the same time and are very welcome!
I’ve already seen a few leaves tinged with red and yellow at the Park – unbelievable because it was so hot for so long – tomorrow we will only be in the mid-60s! I will likely have the furnace on once in the morning as it’s been raining for hours and will be doing so overnight and in the morning.
I’ve seen some leaves turn brown too! It’s scorching hot here too. Oh my, you get rain! That’ll be nice to have the air cleaned up. But I hope it’s not the downpour kind.
How’s the Council Park after the renovation? Is autumn going to be totally different there now?
Brown already! Well you do have that very hot weather that I keep hearing about and all the wildfires going on, I think a new one today or yesterday I heard of. Council Point Park is not looking good yet, but at least the cement sewer pipes are now gone – that part is good, but they’ve done no planting of native plants as I was told by the “Friends of the Detroit River” group … all that is there is tall weeds and that is it. And I saw three squirrels my first day back, last Friday, then two squirrels the last few times. One squirrel comes running over, a female Fox squirrel – the black squirrel is timid and I’ve seen none of those cutie-pie gray squirrels. It goes break my heart to see what they have done to this Park. I hope it recovers, but right now, I have no hope that it will – even the birds are gone, my cardinals, jays and woodpeckers … all vanished.
The weather cooled down today and I hope it stays this way. The sizzling heat becomes unbearable; dry and hot.
That’s too sad about Council Point Park. You have loved walking there in autumn and feeding your pet friends. I can’t believe that that is all gone and now replaced with something entirely different. Even if they plant plants and trees, that will take time to grow and bloom. Ugh.
I am grateful for the cooler temps as are you – it makes it bearable to be outside again. I cannot bear to see the Park like this. They have a Park clean-up for the Ecorse Creek next weekend – I follow them on Facebook as years ago I did a blog post about the volunteers and sent them the blog post and the individual pics of the volunteers. So, I am hoping to get down there, just to look for the woman who told me they were planting native flowers and ask her if it is still happening. She goes to all the Ecorse Creek clean-up events as she coordinates them … they do the clean-up using kayaks and canoes. Barring asking her in person, I’ll send her a FB message … today I saw five squirrels and all willingly came over to see me, despite the fact they were preoccupied with acorns from the Oak tree and walnuts (with the green rinds around them) from the Black Walnut tree when I arrived. 🙂 I will cultivate the “relationship” as much as I can. I’ve not seen any nursing mom squirrels, so hopefully they are still up in the tree with their young that don’t leave the nest until 12 weeks. I have my fingers crossed for my furry (and feathered) friends for normalcy.

They are bright and colorful and look a little like dandelions with a little pizazz.
I love bright flowers and they stand out with their colors and simplicity. The dandelion had a little personality!

Oh that would be a pretty and colorful sight! Soon the leaves will be falling. How’s it going over there:? Has it started?

I think you will do great to “cultivate” the relationship since you have a knack for interacting with animals!
Beautifully captured! Lovely, indeed. 🙂
Thank you!
