This solo flower grew from dry and crusty soil in a flower pot all by itself. The stem was really long and wiry with the middle part of the stem tethered to the rail by the homeowner.
What determination to grow and bloom stretching towards the sun. How long has this flower been growing like this?

You’re welcome Esther. My neighbor once grew an entire yard full of them as his father was dying and he wanted him to see as much color as possible when he looked outside – Cosmo everywhere! Learning wildflowers was on my agenda for 2020, but I put that off … brain was too muddled. Also learning the DSLR manually, not just on automatic, put that off too. How are you doing learning Chris’ DSLR camera?

Learning about wildflowers has always been on my list yet I learn maybe 1 or 2 a year. Pretty lame sauce. It’s overwhleming the number of varieties that exist. Maybe this year…another 1 or 2, if I’m feeling ambitious, 3?! Lol
Oh you remembered my stint with Chris’ DSLR. It’s stored in the closet for now. 🤪🤪 I got frustrated with the non wi-fi feauture on it. Kind of a hassle to take the memory card on and out. When i take the camera out for pictures, guess what? My memory card still in my computer. Forgetfulness
Don’t worry…last year was a muddle for the whole world. It’s only January; you can take it easy.

I likewise found that most of the wildflowers looked alike – hmm. A fellow blogger who lives in Connecticut and goes on nature hikes has found a site on Facebook for birds ID and posts a photo (if the Google reverse image search does not work) and in minutes people I.D. her bird. I noted the site … I spent many hours trying to ID a Northern Mockingbird last week. I’m on Facebook, but for nature sites and the news mostly, but if you’re on Facebook it is:

I think butterflies often look alike. I have a butterfly guide from when I had the butterfly garden back in 2010-2011. But it’s easier to use the internet to ID them. However, I spent hours trying to ID a blue butterfly – I found it and it was called a “Red Spotted Purple Butterfly”. What?! That just annoyed me as I was determined to put the right name. Blue is not in the name and it was no more purple than I am. I once called a Black Swallowtail a Tiger Swallowtail and was corrected in the comments. Sigh.
I have never used the wireless feature for the point-and-shoot, nor the DSLR … I couldn’t get it to work for the point-and-shoot and had to turn the computer on, so just used the SIM card reader instead. Yes, it’s easy to leave the card in the card reader. I am better at directions if I can see a video … someone recommended a guy named “Jared” for tutorials on DSLR manual operation. I signed up for the 12 or so tutorials and watched them all at once. He spoke too fast, he was kind of a know-it-all and extremely loud. I stopped … too much effort. If you have time to play with it, and nothing else pressing, but I don’t want to spend an afternoon and come home with too dark or too light shots – it happened once and I just took pictures of things at the Park, nothing important, but still. Try again when the world calms down. Hugs back at you!
