    • Thank you Miriam! It surprises me to see &W photos make a difference in the feel of the picture.
I didn’t know strawberries grew that quickly. How lovely to have your own strawberry patch and to eat from your own garden. I’m still working on keeping my plants alive. lol
A few years ago we went strawberry picking in May near Monterey.

      • I grew strawberries in my old house. My current house doesn’t have enough space to do that, Esther. My daughter goes to blueberries farm every year. She took my granddaughter there and went with friends. My granddaughter has fun picking and eating right there. They grow raspberries in their garden.

  1. another great pair of photos together – and looking at them together – the striped sleeves san with the daughter’s stripes –
and then the long vertical layers in the first photo – trees – shrub – bench = child – lead the eyes right into the strawberries and the finger pointing adds this extra element – along with the barefoot and posture on the bench above

    just my take 🙂

    • Thank you for the photo analysis. Very keen observation and interpretation; gave me a new way of seeing the pictures. I appreciate your insights.
I didn’t notice, but I like stripe clothing for myself and my kids. They have their own taste now and spurn stripes. hahaha

      • 🙂 well stripes also look so good in black and white (just realized that)
and for me – striped shirts are so hard to buy – I did just score two long-sleeved ones I like but sometimes I bring home a striped shirt and just hate it – so I have noticed that it can be so tricky

      • It’s hard to determine which stripes will look good. For me, I like thin to medium white stripes against navy or black or navy stripes against cream.
I have a favorite one from Boden that has holes in it. It’s time for a replacement.
Ohhhh, isn’t that a great feeling when you score something you like. It’s like a rush of dopamine. lol Hope you feel good and happy in your new shirts!!

      • well isn’t this fun talking abuja clothes and misc!
        hahaha – really fun
and guess what? i wore one of the striped shirts tonight – with a light green over it and perfect! shirt was navy with white stripes and the black jacket allowed the sleeves to show a little near the wrist and the shirt was perfect feel at the waist (hate shirts that are too short and climb)
and the other shirt is a rose pink with white stripes – not my normal color – but it called to me! ha – and don’t plan on wearing that until spring / have a njce pair of gray slacks to go with it on one of those spring days that is warm/cool!

and yes -time to replace the one from
Boden – if they still make it ?? i wonder if they do?

      • Yes, this is a fun thing to talk about!! I don’t look it, but I am a huge admirer of clothes and fashion. I’ve changed over the years and like clothes that don’t fall apart quickly. I used to chase trends when I was younger, but as a busy mom, I don’t have time nor the energy to keep up. lol
Your striped shirts sound pretty and like how you styled them. I’m glad you tried a new color; you never know until you try and may be pleasantly surprised.
Boden always has the striped Breton tops…the color choices are many. I should replace it before spring comes.
Hope you are having a good weekend and staying well!

      • hi – well i am nkt that into clothes but in the other hand i do try and wear what is me at a given time and have been bringing in more colors for a while but find it can be hard.
my supposed colors for my skin tone and eyes are soft mauve- maroon- purples and then a certain range of greens – most oranges and blues and pinks clash with me – for whatever that means.
and i have had some stripes closures that did nkt work out at all- but then some that has. just like the storied item you will replace
and thanks for sharing about your admiration for fashion and clothes – that is a fun thing to learn – and reminded me how we do switch gears when in mom mode! our focus can change but we stay getting enriched and all that!

      • Like you I’m trying to incorporate more color into my clothing! Bright clothing puts me in a cheerful mood and my new favorite sweater has a puffin on the front. lol. My kids approve of it 100%.It was hard at first since I was used to wearing black and denim most of the time.
Hope you are having a good week and staying well!

      • Oh that puffin sounds awesome
and now i think of you when i wear stripes – or at least day i did – hahahah

and too much color can make me feel off – or the wrong vibrancy – but it sure is fun to see how we change with our styles

      • How funny, because I wore the puffin sweater the other day and thought of you. lol. I got it from Talbots. It’s true that our styles change over time and with circumstances, especially with COVID I’m reassessing my needs and wants.
Hope you are having a good weekend and staying well!

  2. These are beautiful photos Esther … I like how you use black and white in these photos, one of a pensive Elliott and one of an inquisitive Ellis. P.S. – I like your new profile picture too.

      • Thank you! The B&W made the pictures look vintage to me. Interesting how filters make the difference. This was not easy when we had to develop pictures from film. Time consuming and experimental. These days printing out the digital prints is a pain; it’s all on my phone. One day I’ll upload some favorites and have them printed out. Shutterfly, Costco, Walgreens, and Target (some have photo centers).

      • I use Shutterfly and I used to load my photos there after each walk that I took photos, then started taking so many photos, I just load the photos on an old computer and don’t delete them off the card or computer, until I put them in a post. That’s how I am always behind with photos. I have four sets of long-trek photos but haven’t sorted them yet. Shutterfly pics I think you can get them printed out at Walgreens.

      • That’s good news about printing them out at Walgreens. We have one nearby our house but they’ve got long lines.
I don’t delete photos either except for doubles or blurry ones. If I didn’t do that, I’d have tens of thousands. I’m a picture nut.
Don’t worry! You’re not the only one behind on pictures. I took Chris’ DSLR out the other day and when I turned it on to take pictures it wouldn’t click. Guess what? I forgot to take the battery out of the charger and put it in the camera.

      • Back before I got a digital camera, I took some photos in to Walgreens and had them digitized … they were always busy at that photo counter. Now’s not the time to deal with it I guess, but you can just have them mailed to you then. That would be disheartening to go to take pictures and no battery. I went to the River last week and it started to snow … I took the big camera that day and had to hightail it out of the snow to get it into the case. I’m a picture nut too. I spent the better part of yesterday dealing with photos, rejects or otherwise. I’m trigger happy with the shutter button all too much! This morning it was gray out and I was scrambling to get the garbage out for Monday garbage day and run the car in the garage before setting out. In order to avoid the mask fogging up my glasses I’ve been keeping it under my chin and hoping I don’t run into anyone, so try to get there earlier … that is, until this Sunday’s time change. Anyway, I spent so much time doing photos yesterday, I decided to leave it behind. Halfway to the Park, there was sidewalk chalk art which I often feature in my blog. So grrrr, I went to the Park, walked my laps, walked home and got the camera and went halfway down there again. We weren’t getting rain, but I figured people would walk over the chalk art.

      • Picture nut here too! I need to set aside some time to upload pictures to print on some printing site. Thanks for the reminder that daylight savings time is this weekend. This means longer days!! Love it.

      • Agreed, though I really enjoy doing morning walks so I’m sorry to see the 7:00 a.m. sunrise going … but hopefully we’ll catch up soon and back to earlier walks again.
