sing like wildflowers

My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.

2024 will go down in the books as “let’s hurry and turn the page to a new year!”

    1. singlikewildflowers Avatar

I thought I said that about last year!! Hmph… kind of nuts.

      1. Linda Schaub Avatar

I believe you did – hopefully 2025 has better vibes!!

      2. singlikewildflowers Avatar

Praying it does!! I am exhausted but somehow I’m chugging along well.

Sometimes you run on adrenalin (along with being fueled on Starbucks).

      4. singlikewildflowers Avatar

And when we come home, Starbucks only goes so far, and the adrenalin is maxed out. Then comes the crash…

      5. Linda Schaub Avatar

Yes, I know there is a big crash when the Starbucks wears off. Before Robb/I left the Firm and went out on our own, there was a Starbucks opened in the first floor of our building. Because I took the bus to work and, because every season but Winter, we had to cross over a bridge that would be lifted for 1/2 hour if a freighter had to pass under it, I always left very early to ensure I wasn’t late due to the bridge being raised. So, if you got in early, no matter if you were an attorney/support staff, first one in turned on all the lights and made coffee. I thought if I make myself visible, then if other attorneys need something, I will be bugged (and it happened a few times), so I got smart and I would get the largest Starbucks fresh brew and drink it, then go upstairs by 8:15 when I knew people were already there. I was percolating myself by the time I finished it as I always drank it black and liked the dark roasts (except Sumatra which I found too strong even with cream in it).

Starbucks can be strong! Their cold brew is insanely strong and it makes my head zing.

      7. Linda Schaub Avatar

Yes, my favorite was a Columbian roast. I’ve never had their cold brew – I don’t think they had it when I was last inside a Starbucks (probably circa early 2003).

      8. singlikewildflowers Avatar

If you go to Starbucks, do not try the cold brew. If you’re not used to it, it will give you the jitters and sleepless nights. Whew, I learned my lesson. Even a coffee drinker like me was shaking from the caffeine overload.

      9. Linda Schaub Avatar

Wow – well thanks for the head’s up Esther. I was buying coffee at the grocery store the other day and I only use instant since it’s just me and I only have two cups a day, but did you know that Starbucks has instant coffee?
