It seems this admission is going to be a short one, I think! The plan was to get discharged today, but now they’re reconsidering because of her losing weight and possible endoscopy. Ugh…it’s disheartening to think we’re staying longer.
On early Sunday morning when we got up to the patient room, Ellis was able sleep comfortably and woke up without throwing up or retching. Surprisingly, she didn’t have any more episodes. That was mind-blowing! Usually, she feels miserable until day 3 or so.
We were both exhausted from the previous day and long night at the ER: by the time we got ready for bed, it was 4 a.m.
This morning, the gastrointestinal doctors just stopped by. They are going to check with the cardiac team if they can add another preventative medication on a daily basis to help avoid these episodes. There is another medication she has been on since she was a baby that she still takes for nausea.
We have rescue medications, but they are a hit or miss. The behind the ear patch is no longer an option since it led to sinus node pauses, 6 seconds, that got her into the ICU on her last hospital admission.
I’m waiting to speak with the doctor to see whether we can check her nutritional record at home and schedule outpatient procedures. Having the hospital nearby is a blessing but having to be here feels like bleh. Sighing. All these new things keep coming up that constantly changes our plans.
I’m hoping to keep up my spirits, stay optimistic, and keep my faith in God.

Sending good thoughts that she can go home today.
Sister, I’m sorry for the delay in commenting, things have been rather eventful over here as well. Please be assured of my prayers – this is a test of faith for you but I’m believing God is going to work everything with your family. Don’t doubt that He hears every prayer! Sending love and warm wishes.
Praying for a quick recovery and strength for Mom and Dad.
Glad to see a big smile on Ellis’ face … big brother Elliot must have shared a joke. Hang in there, both of you and … on the home front as well.
