My full and kooky life as a homeschooling mommy to 2 great kids, raising a child with HLHS (Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome), coping with depression, following Jesus, and being much too camera happy.
Welcome to my blog! My name is Esther and I’m so happy you are here. I’m an avid nature photographer and a daydreaming thinker. My posts revolve around photos of nature’s beauty, homeschooling adventures with my 2 kids, sporadic reflections on my child’s heart condition, Bible reading reflections, gardening feats, and other mish mash things. Hopefully you’ll leave encouraged, pensive, or smiling at the simple things of life. Thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll find some interesting posts to read!
Thank you! I was a proud mama and a family effort to make it through the year. They’re learning lots of new skills and getting more comfortable with public speaking, which is a huge gain from when we started in January ’24.
Thank you! It was a year-end wrap up party and all the kids who participated for the year got certificates and an extra certificate for those who held offices, so that was kind of special! Fun for everyone.
This is a good organization for the kids – look at all the fun they’ve had since they joined – the feeding of the lambs last year seems like ages ago doesn’t it?
You’re so right!! We are having so much fun in the program and trying out new things. Both kids were part of a project called Teens as Teachers in the spring and got to teach elementary kids about worms and composting. A good introduction to leadership learning and working in teams. Pasture lambs does feel like ages ago. Today we went to the ranch and when we met our friend’s hog, I was tempted to do it too. It would start next spring and end in early August. But how could we go to the ranch daily to feed and train the hog all those months??
It’s a great learning experience! I’ll have to think about the hogs before we jump into it. Teddy is a handful and there’s so much to learn now. We printed out the 4-H showmanship questions and they’re extensive. The book also arrived yesterday to review the other kinds of breeds and more about Holland Lops, like Teddy.
You’re lucky to be on school break right now to get it all studied/retained. Yes, the hogs are more work as you need to go out every day, like the lambs, where Teddy is right there beside you.
Oh boy, we are enjoying this break! It feels kind of weird not to be doing anything, but I know soon enough we’ll be back to school lessons. Elliot caught a cold last week and now we all have it! Ugh…he has a weak respiratory system, so he is usually the first one to get sick, which he passes onto us.

Very nice pictures – congratulations to Ellis and Elliot!
Thank you! It was a fun evening to wrap up the year with 4-H friends at a local park.

Yes, good training for the kids in leadership roles – you could maybe try the hogs later after you have all of Teddy’s showing and training down pat.

Thank you so much! I was the photographer that evening for taking all the other kid’s photos getting their certificates too. Lots of fun.
You are most welcome. Iam so happy you took the photo very funny 😄.
Congratulations! Way to go! 🎉
Thank you! Happy that we finished off the year well when we had a rocky start with Ellis and her many emergencies last fall.
