On our daily walks, kids have an unspoken competition of being the first one to point out new observations.
Today’s observation comes from Elliot when he noticed these cherries, haven’t verified by tasting but they smell like cherries, on a tree we pass by frequently. Since he was the first to notice it, I asked him to take pictures for my blog, so here they are!

Thank you, Cee, for hosting! Thank you, dear readers, for making time to stop by my blog. Always grateful for your support! ~Esther

I love that you all make a game out of learning – it sounds like your walks are so much fun!
I wonder if these are tart cherries …
Thank you, Ju-Lyn! We just walk around and try to learn from what we see and are curious about. It makes it less boring, but it makes me question if they are learning anything from what we’re doing. Self-doubt kicking in for the homeschooling mama!
I don’t know about tart cherries…interesting. I’ll have to look it up. Thanks for that.
Have a great weekend and hope all is well with you and your family!
I hear you … so many times during our homeschooling journey we wondered if we were going the right way.
Yes, I feel the same way! Some days I feel confident and others I feel downtrodden. Thank God, God knows my limitations and pours out extra grace for our homeschooling journey. Are you still homeschooling?
It really is a journey of faith and trust in His providence.
Older Child is finishing up her Masters, younger is still finding her way – she is Down Syndrome so has a very different path. I think we will be helping her along for a while yet. 😆
That is so true! I find my faith has strengthened after having kids, and especially having my daughter with a heart condition. Kudos to you mama for your homeschooling journey! Your kids are lucky to have you.
Kudos tothe photographer!
Thank you! I will surely tell the photographer.
Have a great weekend and hope the flowers are blooming where you are!
You’re welcome! Yes, our rhododendrons are bursting with blooms.
Never seen a cherry tree!
In fact it’s been years since I’ve eaten them.
I think we had a discussion about cherries before?
I had no idea this tree grew cherries! We pass by this tree so often and to think that we missed it all this time…oblivious! Well, this is a new thing we started by observing new finds on our common walking routes or maybe it’s a new tree?? It’s in front of someone’s house and I wonder if they tried any.
I think we did have a discussion when I posted about cherries in my friend’s backyard, like 3 weeks ago? Those were all eaten by birds when we checked yesterday.
Hope you have a great weekend and take care!
Ohhh well birds 🥲
Hmm – Elliot the photographer, Ellis the artist, Esther the writer … a very creative family. I’m sure Chris could contribute to the creativity as well.
Thanks, Linda! I love how the kids feel they are part of the blog and enjoy contributing to it and know about the bloggers I most interact with, like you!
That’s good they feel like participants because our blogging takes up so much time that it is nice to share it with the rest of the family – I feel like I know the kids from your photos and relating where you’ve gone in your posts.
You are the first blogger they interacted with and know about well! We talk about you like you live next door.
I like how they feel connected to my blog; it’s a fun thing for us to share together.
And I feel like I know your family just as well Ester – Aunt Linda from afar! It is a good thing for you all to be connected thru the blog … especially showing us their learning experiences as well. Plenty of fodder for blog posts.
For sure!!
