We learned some interesting information about pigs today from our friend. He’s part of the swine project, and he’s raising Violet as a market pig and she’ll be shown at the County Fair next month.
Violet loves to eat marshmallow snacks. Her ears have that jagged shape and was notched from breeders when she was born; it’s a way to identify them. The max weight limit for the fair is 210 pounds. She was very curious and stamped her muddy nose on Elliot’s pants and mine, as well as biting my shoes. It didn’t hurt but the chomp made me jump!
She gets to take daily walks and eats marshmallow treats, trains to walk around the pen area at the fair with a trainer and guide stick, and takes an occasional bath. Hogs are pigs who are raised for the market.

It was great to revisit the ranch where we raised pasture lambs last spring! The weather has been so dry that all the grass turned to crunchy dry grass.

Wonderful both love kids play with pig. Very well trained these pigs. They’re didn’t harm kids. I hope pig very harmful. Beautiful pic on the Grass.
Thank you, Raj! We all had a great time at the ranch and meeting a new hog friend.
Welcome, Esther. Iam happy all had great time at the reached new hog friend meet.
That looks like great fun. You’ve reminded me that I used to know of someone who had a huge tortoise that the kids rode from time to time — but I can’t remember exactly who it was. It must have been someone I knew from a long-ago blog.
Good to meet you, Violet!
Interesting about the ears … I like the action photos of the kids with Violet!
